Myrtle Beach veteran laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery

Myrtle Beach native Army Staff Sgt. James “Jamie” Santos was put into his final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday.

U.S. Army Chaplain (Capt.) Timothy Stokes spoke about Santos' joys in life and his dedication to the Army.

He loved his time in the Army, being a soldier and even speaking with the various chiefs of staff over the years,” Stokes said. "[Santos] joins his father, grandmother and grandfather here at Arlington National Cemetery.

Stokes spoke about Santos' military family legacy. His father, grandmother and grandfather were also laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

Santos’ stepfather, Kenneth Rubin, said it was Santos' dream to be buried at Arlington.

Other loved ones spoke at his ceremony including service members, friends and family.

Soldiers who served alongside him in the Persian Gulf War, Haiti and Somalia were at his service.
